SAFTEY EQUIPMENT

Safety equipment is mandatory when making or performing anything pyro. Things you should have are:

These are probably the most important. If what you are doing is dangerous enough you may want a full-face shield. In case something goes off while your making it you won't have blood oozing down out of your ears. If you are handling fine powders, the dust from these can get into your lungs without this. Many of the chems in pyro are iritants or toxic, so you don't want to breath them. Even more protection for the more dangerous, if you handling some toxic chemicals you may want these. For the slightly less dangerous.

These things are essential to make most explosive compositions and stuff.
This you can go without, but I would suggest you have. They're expensive and hard to make, but nearly essential when making black powder. This is the alternative to a ball mill and still used if you have one, I made a mortar and pestle out of the head of a ball peen hammer and a small bowl. They are also nice if you are making small amounts of something. Used to get clumps out of powdered chemicals and explosive compositions. This you can't go with out. The best would be a digital balance, but you could use a good ol' triple beam balance. Used for formulas that include liquids, and are setter than pots and pand because they are made from pyrex. They also have the little graduations on the sides. Needed to get the explosive powder into the casing, filter things (put a piece of filter paper in) and other uses.
