Military use Explosives and Weapons

I found it hard to find good information on the following military use explosives. Listed below are ways to make them yourself. These military use explosive and weapons are meant to inflict casualties, so obviously will be very dangerous.

Flame Thrower

This is bases on Zero's, I couldn't find any information on it, not at his site not anywhere, so I made this sense the man himself apparently left the online pyro community. It was also a good addition to this page, but all credit goes to Zero, it's his "Flame Boy."

Materials

-Fire extenguisher
-Isopropyl Alcohol
-Metal Rod, 1-2 feet
-Rag
-Old Bike Tire
-Intstant Bike Tire Inflater
-Epoxy

First take the top part of the extenguisher off and clean anything left in it out(if emptied, if not do so). Drill a 1/4 inch hole in the bottem. Take the bike tire and cut out the valve leaving and inch or so of rubber around it. Put the valve throught the hole so it's sticking out of the bottem and eboxy it down fromt he inside; make sure you use lots of epoxy and it's air tight. Tuck tape the metal rod to the nozzle of the extenguisher. Fill it full of isoprepyl acholol and screw the nozzle back on. Take the instant bike inflater thing (which is just loaded with CO2) and stick it in the valve to fill it up. The CO2 is safer than compresser air and thats why I use it, but you could aso use compresser air. You shouldn't let it get above 30psi.

Now that the basic assembly is complete, test to see how far it squirs, the gas should go about 20 feet. Soak a rag in gasoline and wrap it around the end of the rod, and posision it so that the stream of alcohol shots right above it. Lite the rag on fire. Shoot a stream of gas through the flame, and out should come the desired effect: a long flame you can aim at things.

Hand Granade

Hand Grenades where first used in World War I and some are like the kind described on the right. When the handle was pulled up the pin would fall and strike the "percussion cap" which ignited the chemical fuse, which, in turn discharged the explosives. Below is a discribion describing how to make a homemade one a little more high tech than a pipe bomb. Flash powder is used because any high explosive would just be overkill for this project. The ignition settup is based on the early german designs, but mine will use amorphous phosphorus or more commanly known as armstrong's mix. This can be found in cap guns.

Materials:

-Flash Powder
-Armstrongs Mix
-Magnesium Powder
-Dextrin
-Small Tin Can (4.5-6oz)
-5-8" length, 1-1.5" diameter of PVC Pipe (threaded on one end)
-A foot of Green Fuse
-Some washers (described below)
-Epoxy
-Aligater Clip
-String
-Threaded Cap fit for PVC Pipe

First find a small food can like the ones with tommato past in theme, like around 4.5 or 6 ounces. Don't open in, instead drill a hole in the top around half an inch wide to dump out all of the insides (this is why i would use tomatto past, not any canned vegitables or anything). Make sure it's all out good by filling it with water and pouring it back out, do this several times then let it dry.

Take an ounce or two of armstrongs mix, some water, a pinch of dextrin, and some magnesium powder. In a film canaster or something, VERY CARFULLY mix the armstrong's mix and some magnesium powder with a couple drops of water and then add the dextrin, however much it takes to make it pasty. Armstrongs mix is very very sensitive to shock, so take as much safty precautions as possible (eye google's, gloves, etc.) Dip one end of the fuse into it and pull it out, if the past clumped to the end then good, if not add more dextrin and do it again. The magnesium powder is to help make sure the fuse ignites.

Find a washer with the same outside diameter as the inside diameter of the PVC pipe and the same inside diameter as the thickness of the fuse. You may need to use more than one washer for this, just stack then on top of eath other with some glue. Take the fuse with the normal end and poke it threw the whole and pull it all the way threw till the end with the Armstrong mix on one side is the only thing sticking out of that side and glue it down. Now, carfully, glue the washer(s) into the inside of the PVC pipe. Your now ready for the final assembly.

Take the can and fill it up with the flash powder using a funal, again be carefull. Once it's mostly full, put some washeres on the top with the same was described above, but this time use epoxy to make the shell stronger. Take one end of the fuse and stick it through the whole and glue it in place. Take the end of the PVC pipe and epoxy it down to the can. Now take the threaded cap and string. Connect the string to the inside of the cap however you want, just so that when you pull the cap, the string won't fall off. Tie the alligator clip to the other end of the string. Now for the final assembly step. VERY CARFULLY AND SLOWLY, clip the aligator clip to the armstrong mix pasted end of the fuse and screw on the cap. All done, I know it sounds like a long process, but it's all mostly assembly. It wont take you more than an hour if everything goes smothely.

Now you have a grenade, be carefull while handaling it because if the aligator clip moves around too much and somehow sparks the fuse, then you better know what to do with it in the next couple seconds. I know what your thinking, but this is the safest design I could think of. To initiat the grenade, uncrew the cap and pull it. Discard the cap and throw the grenade as far as you can. Preferably, you'll want to be out in a remote wilderness of some sort where no one will be around. Have a good place to hide behind, like a big tree or boulder.

Frage Grenade

A fragmentation grenade is basicaly a hand grenade built like a "pineapple," or with a cast iron shell designed to throw shrapnell in all directions. Technicly, using the method described above and just tapping nails to the side or something would be a frag granade. So it wouldn't be hard to design your own.

Chemical/Smoke Grenade

These grenades are used for signaling, screening, or CBR purposes. An example would be a flash grenade, which produces a loud sound a bright flash.
