Me and pyrotechnics
I've been interested in pyrotechnics for a
little while now, maybe a year or two. My first "bomb" as I called it then was
most like a mine. I just took everything out of my left over fireworks from the
Forth of July which had stars, bp, sparkler stuff, and about half of it was clay
that I though was explosive, put that in a carboard tube with one end taped
shut, stuck a fuse from a roman candle (good length!), wrapped a few layers of
tape around it, and lit it. The "bomb" shot stars and sparks everywhere and I
thought it was cool so I stuck with pyrotechnics and I still am keeping with it.

About Me
I have always been interested in pyrotechnics, since I was a little boy. I really started to become interested while reading the anarchist's cookbook (I regret it now. Don't read the ACB). A friend of my family has a lab in a large university. He allowed me to go in during the summer and mess around with his chemicals and found me some books entitled Chemical Demonstrations, vols. 1 and 2. They had much more accurate info than the ACB and much of it was quite neat. Those two books, along with two computer science classes at the university, occupied my summer. After that summer, I returned to the bleak desolation of the country home and school. I soon found TOTSE and the pyro comunity who lead me to some good resources. Soon after, I was making fireworks. I have been at it for about 4 months at the time of this writing (feb 2004), but I have a reasonably strong chemistry background which helps greatly. I am currently a junior in high school and taking am taking all the hardest senior level class and I'm still bored.
